The End of the Year

Thursday is the last day of the year. I have seen two or three articles on-line or in print highlighting the past decade. I thought we had this all worked out back in two-thousand. The decade is not over yet. It has one more year.
Christmas has come and gone again. Time always speeds up this time of year. Something passes me by. I'm still thinking about what I'm going to buy for my kids or my wife. Or me. I still have some shopping to get done. Well, at least the malls won't be quite so crowded now.
Walgreen's is putting out Valentines merchandise already.
Anybody else out there upset about the way chocolate covered cherries are packaged? Just wondering. It would even be okay if they just made the box smaller.
I read somewhere that Kool Aid is the most expensive item in the grocery store, when you figure the per-pound price. After I wrote that last sentence I started a google search - I wanted to find out just how much it costs. About five minutes later it hit me. What the hell am I doing? I have books that I have been intending to read for months, I need to organize my hundreds of digital photos, I need to start getting ready for work, I have notebooks full of poetry I need to edit, I need to feed the cats, the dogs, and here I sit researching the price of Kool Aid. I haven't had Kool Aid in thirty years. Damn.

Have a nice day.

  1. I highly recommend you have some Kool Aid. Especially the grape flavor. Unless of course it's being served by an over zealous fringe church leader.
